May 16, 2019 ~ Champions ESD Firefighter Michael White receives 100 Club Firefighter of the Year Award! Firefighter Michael White received a 100 Club Firefighter of the Year award for saving several lives at an apartment fire in 2018. On Feb 26, 2018, Champions ESD Engine 12 was responding to assist at a large apartment fire on Cornerstone Village Dr. Engine 12 was the second unit to arrive and tasked with establishing a water supply. As the crew was assembling to complete their assigned task, Firefighter White heard cries for help from a balcony. Grabbing a roof ladder, he positioned the ladder against the balcony and rescued several young children and their mother. Shortly later, the balcony was engulfed in fire and collapsed.
